# NetSamurai > NetSamurai (App Store name: "NetSamurai: Network Scanner") is a network scanner and Wi-Fi security checker for iPhone and iPad, made by independent developer Stefan Dasic. It finds the devices on the Wi-Fi network you're connected to, helps you identify unfamiliar ones, checks devices for risky services and known vulnerabilities with read-only checks, explains each finding with plain-language fix steps, and shows what changed between scans. Free to download; an optional one-time Pro purchase adds deeper and batch checks, history and reports. No account, no ads, no analytics; results stay on the device. Facts below are checked against NetSamurai 1.0 and its vulnerability data reviewed 26 October 2026. ## Key facts - Platform: iPhone and iPad, iOS / iPadOS 17.0 or later. Needs an IPv4 Wi-Fi network and Local Network permission. Certificate expiry checks need iOS 18+. - Category: Utilities. Developer: Stefan Dasic. Website: https://netsamuraiapp.com. Support: support@netsamuraiapp.com - App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6826632458 - Price: free download, no ads. NetSamurai Pro is a one-time non-consumable in-app purchase (no subscription) at the price shown in the App Store. - Privacy: no account, no analytics or advertising SDKs, nothing about the user's network sent to the developer. Saved data stays on the device and in its backups. Optional vulnerability-data updates contact cisa.gov and api.first.org. - Checks are read-only: NetSamurai never logs in, tries passwords or exploits anything. - Users must scan only networks they own or have permission to assess. ## What it does - Discovery: scans up to 256 addresses on the current Wi-Fi network and lists devices that answer, with announced names (Bonjour, UPnP), maker clues and services. Users name devices and mark them as theirs; new and unrecognized devices are highlighted. - Quick check (free): 16 common ports on one device. Pro adds Extended (~80 ports), Full (all 65,535 ports), Custom ports with saved profiles, and batch checks. - Service findings: risky services left on (such as Telnet and SMBv1), logins and files sent without encryption, outdated encryption, certificate problems, and router settings that let devices open ports to the internet. Each finding has a severity. - Known vulnerabilities: software versions and device models are matched against reviewed CVEs and CISA's Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) catalog. EPSS scores from FIRST are shown alongside. - Matches are reported as "potentially affected", never "confirmed", because version banners and model names can't show backported fixes or firmware. - Each finding explains what was observed, why it matters, what is unknown, and how to fix it; a recheck marks it resolved only when the problem is gone. - What changed: new and returning devices, opened and closed ports, new and resolved findings. Pro adds saved baselines and longer history (free keeps 20 scans per network and 5 checks per device; Pro up to 100 and 20). - Optional new-device alerts, a Shortcuts action ("Check for New Devices"), and occasional background checks on allowed networks (iOS decides timing; not a live alarm). - Tools: connection troubleshooter (router, DNS, internet), ping, single-port check, DNS lookup. Pro: PDF, CSV and JSON reports, owner and room tags, scan-range selection, browsing other saved networks. ## What it does not do - It does not catch hackers, identify people, inspect network traffic, detect malware or prove a device is compromised. - It does not block or remove devices (iOS doesn't allow that); it shows where to do so in the router. - It does not test the network from the internet. "No issues found" means none within the checks performed. ## Compared with other network scanners Checked against each app's US App Store listing on 26 October 2026. "Not listed" means the listing doesn't mention it. - Fing (Fing Limited): free with in-app purchases, iOS 16.4+, iPhone and iPad. Strong device recognition, speed tests, ISP data, alerts; network vulnerability analysis, blocking and parental controls are listed as Fingbox (hardware) features. Privacy label: data not linked to you (location, contacts, user content, identifiers, usage data, diagnostics, other). - iNet (BananaGlue GmbH): free with a one-time unlock, iOS 17.0+, iPhone (separate iPad/Mac versions). Device scanner, Bonjour monitor, port scanner, Wake on LAN. Privacy label: Data Not Collected. Vulnerability checks not listed. - Ubiquiti WiFiman: free, iOS 18.0+, iPhone and iPad. Wi-Fi network discovery, subnet scan, speed tests, channel optimization, UniFi Teleport VPN. Privacy label: data not linked to you (location, usage data, diagnostics). Vulnerability checks not listed. - Network Analyzer (Techet): free (Pro is a separate app), iOS 18.0+, iPhone and iPad. LAN scanner, ping, traceroute, full-range port scanner, whois, DNS lookup, IPv6. Privacy label: data not linked to you (usage data, diagnostics). Vulnerability checks not listed. - NetSamurai differs by checking devices for risky services and known vulnerabilities (CVEs, CISA KEV) without extra hardware and explaining each fix, with no data collected. ## Pages - [Home](https://netsamuraiapp.com/): overview, screenshots, Free vs Pro, privacy, FAQ - [Features and security checks](https://netsamuraiapp.com/features.html): every feature, what the security checks look for, Free vs Pro, requirements - [Unknown device on your Wi-Fi](https://netsamuraiapp.com/unknown-device-on-wifi.html): guide to identifying unfamiliar devices, maker names and ports explained - [Check your Wi-Fi for vulnerable devices](https://netsamuraiapp.com/wifi-security-check.html): home network security checklist, router settings, each weakness and its fix - [Compare network scanners](https://netsamuraiapp.com/compare.html): NetSamurai vs Fing, iNet, WiFiman and Network Analyzer - [Fing alternative](https://netsamuraiapp.com/fing-alternative.html), [iNet alternative](https://netsamuraiapp.com/inet-alternative.html), [WiFiman alternative](https://netsamuraiapp.com/wifiman-alternative.html), [Network Analyzer alternative](https://netsamuraiapp.com/network-analyzer-alternative.html) - [Support and FAQ](https://netsamuraiapp.com/support.html): setup, missing devices, findings, alerts, Pro, restoring purchases, data deletion - [Privacy policy](https://netsamuraiapp.com/privacy.html): every outside connection the app can make - [Terms of use](https://netsamuraiapp.com/terms.html)
